Who Can Register?

Anyone! You do not have to be rich, famous or a major corporation to register. Anyone that considers their personality to have value should consider registering.

The law permits various types of personality to be registered:

• Natural persons – i.e. individuals.
• Legal entities (corporations, partnerships and so forth)
• Joint personalities
• Group personalities
• Fictional characters (human and non-human)
• Deceased personalities – up to 100 years after death.

Registration on the Image Rights Register is the key step to protecting one’s personality. Providing that one can subsequently demonstrate that any characteristic (or ‘image’) is unique and has actual or potential value to the registered personality, then the full protection of the law is provided from the date the application for registration was made. Specific images can subsequently be registered as required.
